Primary Care Community Surgery

Within the practice, we have a state of the art Operating Theatre. This facility is a Level 3 facility (the highest such facility in Lincolnshire Primary Care) matching the facilities available at major hospitals. Due to the development of this facility, we are able to offer community surgery procedures in orthopaedics and general surgery. The service is available to all patients, not just patients registered at our Galletly Practice but a referral into the service is required from your usual GP. The full range of our services are published to local clinicians on an NHS system called Choose and Book and so they will be aware of our full range of services. For your information a precis of these services are:

• Vasectomy
• Dupytren’s Contracture Injection
• Dupytren’s Contracture Release
• Carpal Tunnel Injection
• Carpal Tunnel Release
• Trigger Finger/Thumb Injection
• Trigger Finger/Thumb Release
• Removal of lumps and bumps – to name just a few!

Should your GP decide to refer you for one of the above procedures it is your choice to elect to use our service. The procedure will be conducted by Consultant Surgeons who also work at Peterborough Hospital. Our waiting times are usually shorter than those experienced in a Hospital setting as we operate on an 8 week maximum wait. Not least the surgery will be conducted in your community and so save travel and parking. Just speak with your GP and ask to be referred into our service.

How to make an appointment:

Once you have been seen by your GP and advised him/her that you wished to be referred to our service you will be given a Unique Booking Reference Number (UBRN) and a telephone number to call us in order to make your appointment. Once you call us we will take it from there and make all the necessary arrangements with you! The service is a “See and Treat” service, which means just that – the consultant will treat you when he sees you as your GP will provide you with full counselling at the point of referral.
