Smoking
If you are ready to give up smoking we are ready to help you.
In the first instance you should make a 30-minute appointment to see the practice nurse to discuss how to g ive up smoking.
Giving Up Smoking - The Stop Plan
You will have two problems to tackle:
- your addiction to smoking
- your addiction to nicotine
Many people suffer withdrawal symptoms which can be helped by nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). This, together with a behavioural modification strategy will go a long way to help you kick the habit.
BUT
There is no magic cure. It is only your determination and resolve that will help you stop completely.
If you are ready to stop smoking please make an appointment to see the practice nurse.
There is also an NHS Smoking Helpline (0800 169 0 169) that offers advice and support to callers who are either giving up smoking, who intend to give up or have given up and don't want to start again. The service is also designed to support friends and families of smokers. |
