Days when the Surgery will be closed
We will be closed for the August Bank Holiday on
Monday 26th August, 2002. If you have an emergency on that day please telephone
either NHS Direct for advice on 0845 46 47 or our out of hours emergency service
on 01780 752679. Dispensing patients please order your repeat prescriptions a
few days earlier to allow our staff sufficient time to order and dispense your
medication.
Target training
We will be closing for the Lincolnshire Target
training from 12.30 pm on the following dates:-
12th September 2002, 17th October 2002
This is to allow the doctors and staff protected
time for training and teaching and keeps your doctors and their team up to date
with current medical practice. Emergency cover is as above.
"Keep it or cancel it"
During April 114 patients made appointments to
see the doctor and failed to keep them. This means that 114 patients had to wait
longer to see a doctor. If you cannot keep your appointment or no longer require
it please do cancel it - if possible giving us 24 hours notice. We will accept
cancellations on the 562200 number if our appointments number 562201 is engaged.
Dispensary waiting room
Would all dispensing patients who have just seen
a doctor, and been prescribed medication, please wait in our new Dispensary
waiting room and not block the corridor. We have introduced this to give our
patients a comfortable area to wait in whilst their medication is being
dispensed. Patients are all in a queue on the computer system and you will not
be forgotten. We aim to provide a confidential service to our patients and this
is compromised if patients wait at the Dispensary window whilst other peoples'
medication is dispensed.
Repeat prescriptions
We do require 2 working days notice to prepare
repeat prescriptions. E.g. if you request your prescription on Friday it will be
ready on Tuesday afternoon. If there is a bank holiday on the Monday it will not
be ready until Wednesday. Saturday and Sunday are not working days.
Art exhibitions
We usually have an art exhibition on our waiting
room wall. The Thurlby Art group are exhibiting at the moment. The exhibition
will change later in the month and the Bourne Art Group will be exhibiting. All
of the pictures are for sale and a commission is paid to the Surgery which us
used to purchase equipment. If you require any further information about the
paintings just ask at Reception.
Travel vaccinations
Most are free but we do charge for some - details
are on the notice board in the waiting room. Please make an appointment with the
Practice nurse to discuss your requirements. The nurse is not able to discuss
this over the telephone.
Bourne Zipper Club
The Practice was delighted to receive a gift of
an ambulatory blood pressure monitor from the Bourne Zipper club. This is used
by patients to monitor their blood pressure at home over a 24 hour period and
helps the doctor to diagnose whether the patient does have high blood pressure
or is just suffering from "white coat hypertension". We are extremely grateful
for this very valuable piece of equipment.
Coronary heart disease clinics
Dr Wright and Sister French have started to
review all patients with heart problems. All appropriate patients will receive a
letter of invitation in due course. They are very pleased with the response so
far.
