First Aid
Cuts and Bruises Place a clean pad on the cut and press firmly
until the bleeding has stopped. To assist this, in an arm or a leg, raise
the limb. Severe bruising can be helped by using a cold compress. Do not
give any drinks or food if the injury might mean an anaesthetic being given.
Check that the patient is up to date with tetanus protection.

Burns and Scalds Place affected area under cold running water
to reduce heat in the skin. Cover with a clean cloth to cut down risk of
infection. Do not apply grease. Do not prick blisters, this will only increase
the risk of infection. Take advice from treatment room nurses or take the
patient to the hospital if the injury is severe.
